Sizing Hints

Please note: The following notes are a guide to using the sizes in our products page. More information may be available on the Brand’s website, refer to the link to their website on our "Brands" page

The chest dimension used by manufacturers for shirts & jackets may either be the person’s chest size or the garment’s chest size (see below for definition). All shirts & jackets listed on this web site have their generic sizes displayed (e.g S, M, XL etc.), the dimension which is used (either person’s chest or half chest )and the actual measurement in cm.

Polo & Tee Shirts

The easiest method for sizing polo shirts is to use the half chest measurement of a shirt that fits you, select a polo shirt with the same half chest dimension.

Measurements Used

The table below nominates the key measurements used for clothing, check out our Brands page to see which measurement is used to size tops.

Person’s Measurements

Chest Measure around chest just under arms across shoulder blades with arms relaxed down at sides.
Bust: Measure around the fullest part of bust under arms with arms relaxed down at sides.
Height: Measure from top of head down standing barefoot on a hard flat surface with normal posture.
Hips: Measure around fullest part of body at the top of legs with feet together.
Inside Leg or Inseam: Measure from inside crotch seam to the hem of pants that fit you well while wearing appropriate shoes.
Waist: Measure around natural waistline which appears as crease when bending to one side, keep the tape comfortable loose.
Neck: Measure around the middle of neck (at the Adam's apple). Allow room for your index finger to fit between the tape and your neck for a comfortable fit.
Rise: Measure from the crotch to top of waistband.
Sleeve: Measure from center back of neck, over point of shoulder, and down outside of arm past elbow to wrist with arm relaxed at side.

Garment Measurements

Half Chest: Lay the shirt on a flat surface and measure the distance across the shirt approximately 25 mm below the armpits.
Coat/Dress Length: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder down.
Skirt Length: Measure from the waist down. Skirts are measured from center front. Skirts with waistbands are measured from seams down. Skirts without waistbands are measured from top down.
Waist Relaxed Measure from side to side along the inside of the waistband at the top edge
Waist Extended For extended measurements, measure as above with elastic or knit fully extended.
